Volunteers can do the most good for the most people if they have the right kind and number of tools - available when and where they are needed.

The Ohio Conference Disaster Response Team owns a tool trailer that contains tools—large and small, hand and electric—essential for volunteers to have when they work at disaster sites to clean up, repair and rebuild homes.  

Effective disaster response work requires tools that most people do not have in their garage or workroom.  The supply of equipment available at a disaster site is limited at best.  Often, each member of a group needs a hammer, tape measure or drywall knife.  

We need to be prepared to supply volunteers with the tools they need.  When teams work in locations far from home, it is difficult to get them the tools they need quickly.  Having a set of tools in a trailer helps us get the work done.  

Although we do have a well-equipped trailer, more tools are still needed to increase our effectiveness and to provide replacements for some of the hand tools that are broken or lost during work.
