Camp Work Days — What You Need to Know

The work day starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Lunch will be provided on Saturday.  If you would like to stay overnight on Friday, you are welcome to do so as our guest.

Amish Breakfast Buffet on October 29

If you are spending the night at Pilgrim Hills on October 29 you are invited to attend the Amish Breakfast Buffet at Beachy Woodworking, 14290 CR 75, Brinkhaven, OH  43006. Pancakes, sausage patties, sausage links, eggs, hash browns, fried corn mush, biscuits and gravy, coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice, and donuts!  

Register by calling 800-282-0740, Ext. 207 or email campregistrar@ocucc.org to let us know the number of volunteer workers in your group on Saturday and if you plan to stay overnight on Friday.

We appreciate volunteers of all all ages and skills.  We do require that workers under 18 years old be accompanied by an adult (parent/guardian, church youth leader or pastor) who is responsible for them during the work camp day.

Each work camp participant must to sign a work camp release/waiver of liability form. Forms for participants under age 18 must be signed by a parent or guardian. 

Please print and complete the release form and bring it with you. Completed form(s) will be collected by our Site Manager when you arrive at camp —  Jeff Thompson at Pilgrim Hills or Don Harding at Templed Hills.

Work Projects

There is usually a variety of projects that can be done, depending on the season, number of participants and skills.  Our Site Managers will work with your group to make the best possible match of workers' skills and tasks to be done.  We appreciate your flexibility and willingness to serve in whatever way you are most needed.

We suggest that you bring work gloves and basic tools (please mark your personal tools for easy identification).

Pilgrim Hills possible projects

  • Painting

  • Cut firewood

  • Cut cattails down /clean up

  • There is always garden work

Templed Hills possible projects

  • Drainage ditch work — dig it up, contour, grade/rake and plant grass seed. 

  • Cut firewood — Please bring a chain saw if you have one.

  • Other possible projects to be determined
