What is it?
The National Youth Event, a UCC gathering held every four years, provides an opportunity for over 3000 youth to gather for four days of worship, workshops, faith, fun and fellowship.  Join us!

When is it?
The next NYE will be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville from July 24 – 28, 2008.

Ø   The event will begin on Thursday with dinner at 5pm, followed by opening worship.   

Ø   Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be filled with opportunities for exciting worship, great music, fun workshops, recreation and fellowship!  

Ø   NYE will conclude with closing worship on Sunday evening. On Monday morning we check out from campus dorms and travel home.

Who can go?
NYE is for youth ages 13 – 18, their youth advisors and chaperones.

Who plans it?
It is planned by the collaborative efforts of UCC Local Church Ministries, Worship and Education Ministry staff and a National Youth Event Planning Committee comprised of a diverse group of youth and adult volunteers.  

How much does it cost?
The registration cost for NYE is $345 per person, and includes accommodation and meals (UT dormitories and cafeterias) from Thursday night through Sunday night.

When can my church group register?

Registration is scheduled to open in late February 2008.   

Is there an early registration available?
No, we regret not being able to provide an early registration time.  In 2004, NYE registration was followed by a separate workshop registration process. To alleviate the confusion and difficulty of having two separate registration processes, this time we are streamlining the registration process, which will take extra time and eliminates the possibility of early registration.  

What should we do to prepare for NYE?

• Tell your youth group about NYE if they don’t already know!

• Begin fundraisers to help offset the cost of your trip!

• Help your youth group make a short video explaining “Why we’re going to NYE 2008” and post it to http://www.youtube.com!

Dear Friends in Christ,

The UCC National Youth Event (NYE) will be held July 24-28, 2008 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Held once every four years, NYE is an opportunity for the youth of our denomination to gather and celebrate their faith through worship, workshops, recreation and fellowship.  The cost for NYE is $345 per person, which includes housing and meals. 

The NYE Planning Team invites conference and local church staff as well as youth leaders to help us offer engaging workshops that will teach, inspire and minister to the youth and youth leaders.  We rely upon the diverse gifts of many people to provide a broad range of workshop topics, such as social justice concerns, spirituality and the arts, church leadership, environmental care, and youth-relevant pastoral concerns.

Those who volunteer to offer a workshop will be recognized with our sincere appreciation in the NYE program book. We regret that budget constraints do not allow us to pay workshop leaders.
